If you are uploading a file inside your Dropbox account, then you might already encountered the error message below saying:

Unable to upload "filename.extension": lost connection


When you click the "View Details", you will see there the "Upload Error". Next to it is the information symbol ⓘ, and when you hover your mouse pointer over it, you will see the further explanation why the upload of your file failed. It states that:

Something went wrong while uploading this file. Check your connection to the internet and try again.

The two error messages are pointing on your internet connection. But still, it is very generic and you can absolutely say that your internet connection is perfectly fine. I tried downloading the desktop version of Dropbox and installed it on my computer but, the upload process is taking forever so I cancelled it. I also tried to clean my browser's browsing data, restart my computer but nothing changed.

The last thing I did was what I am going to show you in this particular tutorial. And hopefully this trick is going to work in you also.

NEEDED:

a. Ultrasurf, you can download here, or a VPN of your choice. But for this post I will use UltraSurf.

STEPS:

1. First, open your DropBox account.

2. Next, open your UltraSurf.


Wait for the UltraSurf to auto-connect. You do not need to change anything. When the Status is "Successfully connected to server!" then it is ready.

3. Go back to you DropBox account and click "Upload files".

4. In the window that will appear, browse for the file that you wanted to upload. For this tutorial, I am uploading a mp3 file. Click "Open" to start uploading your file.


5. Back to DropBox, just click the DropBox folder and then the "Upload" button.


6. Just wait for the upload to finish.


7. When done, you will see a green check mark beside your file signifying that you successfully uploaded that file. As you can see in the image below, there is the Upload Error with the red circle which means that the file was not uploaded. I purposely included that file for you to see that when I do not use Ultrasurf the result will be an Upload Error and when I used it, I was very happy that I was able to upload the file. The frustration is now gone!


8. You can now see all your files and the new one will be there also.


9. After successfully uploading, go back to Ultrasurf and click the blue X (exit) button.


10. The "Exit Warning" will appear, just click the "Keep browsers and Exit" to continue.


11. Done!

Note: If you are going to use VPN, the same steps will do so. Just connect your VPN and then try uploading the file inside your DropBox account.
