According to the Bagong Pagasa website, the tropical cyclone name starts with letter A and so on up to letter Z. Within a year there are 25 given names for the Philippine tropical cyclones. If the cyclones that will come to the country will be over 25, then the auxiliary list of names will be used.

Typically, even before a typhoon enters our PAR (Philippine Area of Responsibility) other countries will name that typhoon with their own given names. That will be the international name of that typhoon which is some times will enter our country or not.

Philippines is known to have so many typhoons within a year, because of the Pacific Ocean. It is said that Yolanda (Haiyan) is the typhoon that created the most highest recorded confirmed damages of Php 181.325 billion. Yolanda also killed 6,300 people when it struck the Philippines in 2013.
