VLC player or the VideoLAN Client is an open source media player software that is part of VideoLAN, an academic project for streaming video that began in Paris in the mid-1990s. VLC also supports many kinds of video formats as well as audios.

It supports the following operating systems such as, Windows, Mac OS X, Ubuntu, Android, and iOS. The product is definitely for free and since it is open source, you can easily download its source code.
