If you are managing a fan page or group for your blog or website on Facebook, then this tutorial will help you change the default image that Facebook will automatically sets when you share or post your blog post URL in your page or group. To do this you just need to make a very simple hack that I will going to show you for this particular post.

There are reasons why you wanted to change the default blog image that will be the preview or thumbnail of your post inside Facebook. Maybe, you are just re-sharing your post and if you already shared that post before, expect that Facebook will render the same old thumbnail that it detected before for that particular URL. But if you have made an update for that post and the thumbnail is not related anymore, then, you really need to change it. Sometimes, your old thumbnail is just ugly that's why you wanted to change it.

But, you have to remember that even though you are going to change your blog post image to a new one, Facebook will still detect the old one for it and it will be the preview of your post not the new one that you created. And now, here's the hack that you need to do to update your blog post thumbnail or preview inside Facebook.

Note: This simple hack will work in old or new blog post.

STEPS:

1. Copy the link or URL of your blog post.

2. Go to your Facebook page > Publishing Tools.

3. Click the colored blue "+Create" button.

4. In the window that will appear, paste your blog post URL. And wait for the preview or thumbnail to appear. Note, if this is the first time that you shared that URL on Facebook, there is no thumbnail that will appear immediately. You need to refresh your page and repost the URL to make it appear. But for this tutorial, just skip that because I will assume that you wanted a new thumbnail and not the one that you have on your post.

5. Just click the X button near the thumbnail (at right) to remove it.

6. When the image is gone, click "Photo/Video" button.

7. Now, click "Upload Photos/Video" in the options and browse for the new thumbnail that you want inside your local computer.

8. After you browse it, click the Open button and Facebook will upload it automatically. When done uploading, give your post a description. See the image below.

9. When done, just click the share now button to share it on Facebook.

10. To check your post preview, just click Published Posts.

11. And then, click your newly published post. You can just click the text to preview it.

12. And then you can now see your post new thumbnail when shared on Facebook.

13. Done!
